The last week and a half until Maiya‘s due date everyone took their guess on what day Naomi would come. As her due date passed a lot of us said she’d come on Cinco de Mayo, only fitting since we always referred to Cinco de Mayo as Cinco de Maiya! I found out a little past midnight on May 5 (technically May 6) that Maiya was in labor. She had gone in a little earlier that evening.
So how perfect of a theme that Maiya chose, "Naomis First Fiesta!"
We arrived almost an hour late because of well, pumping & nap time & when we got there Naomi was enjoying some tacos (minus the shell of course), refried beans and Evan’s grandma’s famous fried rice. This girl was chowing down in true Cinco de Mayo/birthday celebration style.
Just like her family Naomi is quite the party animal. She had a smile on her face the entire time as she visited with her family and friends, played on the floor with all of her balloons, and shared some playtime with Nicolina. Naomi's "cake smash" was laughingly anticlimactic as she just wanted no parts of getting messy, or eating cake. A true momma's girl as Maiya was never big on sweets, except for during her pregnancy.
This chica even sat through opening gifts being very intrigued in the gifts she was receiving. You could tell she was getting a little sleepy towards the end (& rightfully so!) as she rested her head on a new pillow she had gotten in her mom's lap.
Maiya's decor was on point! She's so funny, she always says "I never know what it's going to look like all put together," for every party shee plans, but I'm telling you she gets a vision and she really delivers it! Maiya & her mom would be a kick ass as a party planning business!
I made a few onesies as part of Naomi’s gift and very appropriately had made a onesie saying no Siesta let’s fiesta and "guau" did this girl fiesta... let’s just hope she had a siesta from mom after!
