The Baby Shower Gift Guide

I talked to our Collective Chaos Facebook Group moms and we have compiled a list of items we've used the most, or haven't at all from our baby shower! Let us help you, whether you are shopping for an upcoming shower, or starting your registry!-Thanks Hayley, Maiya, Fallon & Karina!

1. Most moms agreed that gift cards may be better than gifting diapers or wipes. This is because a lot of newborns are actually sensitive to certain brands. This was the case for Nicolina as well. If you want to gift some, perhaps purchase natural, or sensitive products for mom & dad to try! I was recommended the up & up natural wipes from Target & I pass that recommendation on 100%!

2. As far as the big items go (car seat, carrier, stroller, swing, high chair, pack n play, activity chair), mom probably added these to her registry & most likely has done extensive research on them. If an item is priced too high for you to purchase, you can always go in on it with someone else!

3. Bottles- Mom may have a certain kind in mind, especially if planing to breast feed, but I've come across this awesome idea that would be perfect for baby! Most moms have to trial & error when it comes to bottles, if their little ones has colic or reflux. This helps the process of elimination!- The Bottle Box

4. For the fall/winter babies:

• 100% recommend a Cozy Cover, read our previous post for more details on why this guy is a MUST!

• A winter snowsuit, safe for carseats

• Hat & gloves (a few sets would be awesome)

5. Sleep sacks, like the brand Halo (they make swaddled & non swaddled sacks, perfect for transitioning. Different sizes & versions come in handy!) Can't get enough of these!

6. Blankets! At first I was thinking okay, how many do we really need... but, some are different weights & sizes, perfect for different scenarios. Also... one word, laundry. We are also using the swaddle blankets we didn't use to actually swaddle her with, as light blankets now that the temperatures are warmer here. Perfect for daily, cool morning or evening trips to grandmas!

7. Bath Time & Hygiene

• Baby bath tub (I still use mine for Nicolina at 8 months, I bathe her on the kitchen counter & keep her tub on top of the fridge for connivence)

• Soap & lotion (be mindful again of potential sensitivities by purchasing sensitive/ fragrance free)-We Use Dove, tip to toe wash & Baby Bum lotion

• Hooded towels! Can't get enough of these!

• Temperature safety bath duck-munchkin makes an awesome one!

• Thermometer

• Nail clippers

• Brush

NeilMed Naspira (I swear by this one!)

8. Toys- Don't be afraid to gift toys for a bit older age. As our babies grow, they need new toys to engage them more frequently. Moms, I switch up what toys are on top of the pile. This way, Nicolina will go weeks without seeing some, so to her, they may be new! Her favorite that she never gets sick of is her vtech fire truck

9. Books- Please don't get Goodnight Moon! I know it's a classic, but it's so popular Maiya and I have both received it multiple times! Maiya did the book instead of a card & I LOVED it, Naomi got a lot of fun books! Here's some fun ones I recommend:

• Goodnight Pittsburgh (for the Yinzers)

9. A List of the things we can't get enough of- (besides diapers)

• Socks

• Plain colored onesies (short sleeve, long sleep & tanks) I picked up a set of tanks recently from H&M & I'm obsessed!

• Bibs & burp clothes

• Sleepers (PLEASE, the zip up ones!)

• Crib sheets & changing pad covers

It'a always super cool to get a gift in a little bin or storage container. I use so many in her nursery for organizing & to keep frequently used items in the living room!\
