As if Target's $ Section Wasn't Already Everything

This year I wanted to start a garden. It was obvious that the man who owned our house previously, definitely had one himself, as you could tell by the way the grass grew in its location.

I always wanted to start a garden, as both my grandfathers had one, so as my first spring as a home owner, I had high hopes of starting one for not only myself, but in memory of my grandfathers and Mr. Bill (previous home owner).

Like most things, I always start way too late so I didn’t want to get my hopes up too much for the outcome this summer.

But I one day in February I stopped at Target for as you all know, one or two things, but always always always stop to check out the dollar section! They have not only great decor pieces but awesome props I can use for my photography random finds!

I came across dollar Buzzy seed grow kits and was skeptical on how they would grow being priced at only a $1. But because I’m ballin on a budget, and for once, wanted to start this endeavor, I grabbed a strawberry and tomato grow kit. I also grabbed two mini pots (which I should have grabbed more of!)

Setting up the kit was super easy and super fun! I’ve never seen soil expand the way theses did. I water them daily and was delighted when I saw a little something sprouting through the tomato’s soil one day! Soon, the strawberries did as well!

I had also picked up a few other seed packets from the dollar store, along with some soil and started my peppers and oregano inside. I also have beans, and cucumbers that don’t need to be started indoors.

This week, Joe surprised me with the area for my garden! He dug up a little space where we think Mr. Bill had his garden, put up chicken wire around the border, and even added a little sign “Lydia’s Garden.” This weekend I have full plans of planting everything!

I have no idea what I’m getting into, but will keep you all posted on my garden’s progress!

Moral of the story, just because it’s a dollar, doesn’t mean it’s nothing less than beautiful! Give everything a chance!
